Florida Georgia Line to host concert during Indianapolis NASCAR weekend
Country music duo Florida Georgia Line and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) announced on Thursday that the superstar group will perform during the historic racetrack’s 25th NASCAR weekend in September, strengthening a partnership between IMS and Big Machine Records.
Florida Georgia Line, a duo of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, will headline the FGL Fest on stage inside Turn 4 at IMS on Saturday, September 8. More artists will be announced later and tickets will go on sale on the IMS website in April.
“As we look forward to our new-look NASCAR weekend, we are very excited to add a concert by Florida Georgia Line to the many new reasons to attend the race this September,” IMS President J. Douglas Boles said in a news release. “Thanks to our friends at Big Machine Records, the duo and their many hit songs will bring additional energy and star power to what is already a can't-miss racing weekend at the Racing Capital of the World.”
In February the track announced that Big Machine Records’s vodka label would sponsor the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series 400-mile race that has been colloquially known as the Brickyard 400 since its inception in 1994. Thursday’s announcement added Florida Georgia Line to the race name.
On Sunday, September 9 the 25th running of the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard Powered by Florida Georgia Line will be the final race of NASCAR’s regular season and set the lineup for NASCAR’s playoffs for the first time in the history of the event. IMS has traditionally held a warmer, summer date, but NASCAR realigned the 2018 schedule to give IMS a cooler date, and a more prominent date on the schedule, making the premiere event the regular season finale.
This will be the second time Florida Georgia Line has performed at IMS. They also performed during the 2015 Firestone Legends Day concert before the Indianapolis 500 in May.
“There's no hotter act in the world right now than Florida Georgia Line,” Big Machine Label Group President and CEO Scott Borchetta said in the news release from IMS. “They are dominating at country and pop radio, streaming, sales and touring. While they enjoy the statistics, there's nothing more important to BK and Tyler than putting on an amazing show and celebrating with their fans.
“This new partnership with Big Machine and IMS to build their own festival is all about creating the best experience possible for FGL fans. Throw in the high-speed action of the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard, and this becomes a can't-miss weekend!”
The race weekend also includes the Lilly Diabetes 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series event on Saturday, September 8, making this year the seventh year for IMS to host NASCAR’s two top series in the same race weekend.
